We interrupt our coverage of Weekend with the Masters to bring you this local announcement. The Plein Air Show of Pensacola is up-and-running at the Wright Place. Our annual event marks my 5th year with this community of artists, so, an anniversary of sorts. It's great to be a part of this non-competitive group, We are each in a contest with ourselves.
For the 3rd year, I've helped Fred hang the show. That's a skill I wouldn't have thought about learning, but it's quite a balancing act. Speaking of learning, would you believe Terry (far left, by Fred) is working on his 3rd or 4th degree, this time in Fine Art at Univ. of West Florida! Some people's zest just seems to increase with age. There's the young, and the forever restless. Hazel bounced right back after selling me her easel. That's her, right front, in the blue, cerulean blue, beside Betty in the zebra stripes. (They are two of the Best painters in Quayside Gallery, in my humble non-judgemental opinion.)
As artist's we have to constantly judge our own work, until every work is complete, and every show-able piece is framed. (pictured below- "Morning Greens" and "Lapis in Gold Setting")
"Safe Harbor" made the cut, but only after lightening the sand and some re-roofing.
Terry Sutherlands Windows without Walls (his "Playground of Paint and Canvas", "samples since 1965".
